I’m on day 25 of a new workout program called Morning Meltdown 100. I’m loving the workouts and the “Be 100” journal that I’m able to track my progress and commitment in.
This week a page in the journal was dedicated to completing a pie chart displaying how I prioritize my time. It helped me think about how much time I devote each day to certain things like family, nutrition, and fitness.
I thought a lot about what I should title each section of the pie. My first chart had “Faith” as one of the slices.
I had to draw another one. It didn’t sit right with me that “Faith” was only a slice of the pie when I know I need God as the main ingredient in the WHOLE thing.
I started to ask myself the following questions:
Am I acknowledging that God is with me every minute?
Am I worshipping and thanking Him throughout each day? Or am I compartmentalizing my devotion to certain times?
Am I spending enough time in God’s Word or am I quick to spend more time reading and listening to other things even if they are Christian blogs, books, podcasts, or online sermons?
•Coming from someone with a blog, of course I think all of these things are great. Learning from others deepens our understanding of scripture and helps us in our walk with Christ.
But I don’t think these things should take precedence over reading the Bible for myself. I don’t want anything distracting me from my commitment to reading God’s Word.•
Am I praying but not taking the time to listen and hear from God?
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17
Am I depending on God’s Spirit to help me see how His living Word applies to what I’m going through in every area of my life?
Am I praying to be more consciously aware of His presence throughout each day?
Am I making sure I’m doing the above things out of LOVE and not habit?
Am I remembering His grace on days I miss the mark?
Am I living a life where others see Jesus in me? In all areas of my life? In all pieces of the pie?

I challenge you to think about what spending time with God looks like to you and what your daily devotion entails.
Write down on a sticky note what you think and 2 things you want to add or adjust. Put it on the front of your Bible or on your mirror. Eat a piece of pie while your at. 😉
